I have started to get my “studio” back together.
I belong to two choirs: the aforementioned CWC (treble choir) and the Church choir at the town’s Unitarian Church.
During the height of COVID the Church choir could not meet in person, and we adopted a strategy of recording individual tracks on Sound Trap.
Mixing a large group of singers with individual tracks is exacting.
It was tedious. Rhythm had to be exact, and as a Church choir we had a lot to learn. It improved our attention to rhythm. You can hear that now that we are back together.
It was painful. Listening to the playback and re-recording. Trying to get it as perfect as possible. Listening to your voice. Actually listening to your isolated voice. Humbling.
I learned a lot. And it was hard and I missed singing with the group, in the church.
So my set up: A Rhode USB mike, my pc laptop, a Roland red go keys (which has some ability to act as a midi) , cheap headphones, Sound Trap or GarageBand (iPad) , and a guitar and mandolin
In the basement battling to furnace.
The MS has proved challenging to my process. Only one good hand, my left. And my ability to physically write music is a little compromised. And I get tired and don’t have the energy.
I am just messing around figuring out what the new process is.
