Rounds

When we had our last rehearsal at 1st Parish, Polly told we should compose some new rounds for the group to sing.

So I got a new toy. I decided to try out the Audigo mic which is a small, wireless mic. It makes recording a reasonable quality thing very easy and convenient. And it has a simple app to play with a few parameters afterward.

I have been playing around with recording multiple tracks and rounds. And it makes me very happy. So simple. So awesome. The mandolin sounds particularly amazing in a round. Something about its tone just rings when it hits.

Here’s a simple jig pick in a 3 part round:

And here’s a quick tune I wrote and realized it might work as a 4 part round.

Here it is in my voice. Words: Glory Hallelujah. I’m already very out of shape for “church” singing! But you get the idea.

I know this is so, so simple, but I am very proud of this! and would like to work on more. Rounds are powerful and cool and have stood the test of time for a reason.
