This is a space where I have a mid life crisis, write about my creative journey, and talk about songwriting and share bits of terrible poetry.

Impermanence

by

The strange roar that your mind has a hard time understanding.
The washer must have broken but why is it upstairs?
Just enough warning to get out of the house.
A mountain crashing down through the usually pleasant ambling brook.

They said life is impermanent,
That nothing lasts.
But this is a hard lesson to grasp
As all your things are carried away
In a river of mud and broken trees
Bleeding out along the mountainside.

Suffering is caused by our attachment to impermanent things.
So easy to say on a quiet mountains and think you understand it.
Think you are getting close to the understanding.

Quite another thing when the mountain crashes down on you.

(From my safe spot in MA, I am having a hard time contemplating what happened in the NC mountains.

If you are able please find a way to help over the coming months. These people will need it. Bc for all the cuteness of Buddhist thinking, this is so hard to fathom. This could test the best master.

And I know that as we have let the waters warm, and these storms have become so large and powerful. We are all at risk.)
