This is a space where I have a mid life crisis, write about my creative journey, and talk about songwriting and share bits of terrible poetry.

My Name

This is a weave of an older poem (Snowlight) with a new poem. There is a song. I’m working on it!

Snow light lead the way
On this path I know by day.
Finding night
As it lay.

Soft crunch under my feet.
Ghostly shadows entreat.
“Go where it ends”
Seeking my oldest friend.

I can’t remember her name.
Wonder if it’s still the same?
As when we played our childhood games.

The sun just starting to rise
Through a cloudy sky.
As I slowly
Open my eyes

It is all around me here
These things that I fear.
Whispers in the wind
Confront my only (oldest) sin.

I can’t remember your name.
Is it still the same?
I am the only one to blame

So I make my way
To have my say.
And if I stay very still
I hear the lonely trill.

The mourning birdsong
Telling me I belong
To this haunted wood
That has always stood

I have forgotten my name.
Wonder if it’s still the same
The one I wore in pain?

Here deep in the pine
I feel the slowing of time
Slowing my heartbeat
And my wandering feet

In the stillness there
If I listen I might here
My name.
(can you remember my name?)
Can you tell me my name?
Is it still the same?
Is that why I came.

I can remember my name.
I wonder if it’s still the same?.
The only one I claim.

This is a snippet of the song.
