“Once you put a poem to song you will remember it forever.” Ganavya
It lives in you.
In your chest,
right next to your heartbeat.
I want to remember this poem forever.
Let in become my speech when I can no longer speak.
Let it be the last thing I remember when I have forgotten my name.
Let it be light when my eyes no longer see.
Will you sing it to me when I don’t remember who you are?
Love, sing it to me.
So I will remember.
Ganavya tiny desk
I have been listening to Ganavya while writing in the morning and thinking about why we sing. This poem was inspired by the above performance.
