Mother Earth,
Thank you for the gift of this place.
Bless us as good stewards of the piece of land.
We acknowledge we are only here for a short time.
We will love it well as those before us;,the ones who planted the hemlock, and the weeping birch, and the threadbare, the day lilies, the rhododendron with such care.
Bless this garden we build.
Bless the builders who place each heavy stone with the tenderness of a god.
Each stone a gift from somewhere else.
We receive each of them with loving care.
Bless us with water.
Bless us with sun.
Bless us with rich earth.
So we may grow lush in our season.
Bless the pools; a mirror, a place to gather and reflect.
It reveals your true beauty, and the beauty of the sun and the moon, as it holds them for a time.
Thank you for this earth, the birds who woke at dawn, ad the tree frogs who sing in a raucous chorus at night, reminding us of our love for one another from which all things flow.
With your guidance we will make a second Eden and flourish.
May it be so.
The garden project.
3 years. Two contractors.
It often seems like we bit off more than we could chew.
Money, time, great disruption.
And yet I have already spent so much time here
Even as it isn’t finished.
When the workers are home, I am out there.
Taking pictures.
Listening to its music.
Drawing, writing, reading, picking,
Drinking coffee.
We are getting so close.
And yet it feels like we will continue to just move the rocks around forever?
Will it ever be done?
So this is a prayer of gratefulness that we are even here in this blessed place to do this, with the means to bring this dream into the real world, into existence.
With much thankful ness.
