Once you have visited,
You will not want to leave.
You spend time in the Woods,
but the city keeps calling your name.
The things that you own,
Own you.
We experience the smallest glimmerings,
A moment in the Garden;
Time stretches out like a cat getting out of bed.
Flashes of realization
(are those bats? zipping about)
A second of clarity when all the pieces fit together.
Then the waves pull you back underneath.
The first step is to recognize the surface,
That ocean is separate from sky.
The second step is learning to float between the two.
You practice.
You get better.
Soon you spend more time there.
Few of us awaken at once.
For most of us we come and go often
Until we learn how to stay.
