May you be free of obligation
The things you were told to want.
The spotlight.
The applause.
The money.
The things you never actually wanted.
But seemed to be expected.
Still obligation took you far,
Farther than you could imagine.
But you have come to the place
Where you can lay the burdens down
You have made your name
And now the tables turn.
You see clearly.
You get to decide.
You can do whateverthehell you want.
I’m cheering you on, but am sad
You won’t be around much.
I’ll catch you in the cracks and in the background.
Sitting in with the band.
And maybe I’ll visit you sometime.
