Just love these words. They aren’t mine. It’s a sacred harp tune. It says Charles Wesley, 1759 (lyrics?) and William Walker, 1835. The addition I have sings the tune with the Words to Amazing Grace as the third and fourth verse, though I never hear it sung that way.
Sam Amidon does a cover and I might have heard it in Eau Claire, when we were there this summer. He does several covers of Sacred Harp tunes. I know he did Come and go with Me, not sure if he did this one. Number 146
It’s Sunday. I worked out how to play this on the banjo yesterday, which was working out how to play the banjo in 3. Instead of down up down like on the mandolin, fingers thumb fingers, of back of the hand thumb back of the hand?
The old tunes, the old hymns, have always had an appeal to me
#146 Hallelujah
And let this feeble body fail,
And let it faint and die.
My soul shall quit this mournful vale,
and soar the world on high.
and..
I’ll sing Hallelujah.
You’ll sing Hallelujah.
and We’ll all sing Hallelujah,
When we arrive at home.
Give joy or grief,
Give ease or pain,
take life or friends away.
But let me find them all again,
in that eternal day.
amazing grace how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch like me,
I once was lost but now am found,
was blind but now I see.
when we’ve been there 10,000 years.
bright shining as the sun.
we’ve no less days to sing his praise
than when we first begun.
Cork Sacred Harp, no 146

Maybe I’ll do a video. Still working on it. Don’t have time right now.
