In the yellowing light
I return to you.
My dark woods.
Drift down.
A fluttering.
Find rest
in cracks and crevices,
in nooks amoung rocks,
amoung the roots.
Bowing at last
Kiss the wet earth.
I remember you.
above,
darkening sun.
You are farther away from me now.
Yellow gives way to orange and red.
Then brown.
The trees stand naked.
Shivering.
We are wrapped around their feet.
a blanket
giving too little warmth.
We die.
Fall away.
To grow back strong.
